In order to get to the aim entrusted to the Committee, the General Secretariat carries out the following activities:

• being a link between the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies (and his reference bodies) and all the Italian diplomatic Representations at the several international Organizations, while the Committee acts as a meeting place for agriculture, food, fishery, forestry and rural development experts
• planning and implementing promotion and institutional communication, in order to inform and make public opinion aware about ongoing initiatives and programmes
• promoting the collaboration and co-operation between the entrepreneurial world and the international organizations and among several national and international Ministries in the agro-food and rural development sectors
• arranging conferences and meetings, both in Italy and abroad
• organizing the works of the Sub-committees and the Commissions eventually appointed by the National Committee, while looking after their links to the Committee itself
